Dr. Kathryn Krase

Kathryn Krase is a social worker, lawyer, educator, and Principal Consultant for Krase Consulting, in Brooklyn, New York.

​

Over the past 20 years, her research, writing, and trainings have centered her as an international leader in the legal and ethical implications of the obligations of certain professionals to make reports of suspected child abuse & neglect.

Who is Kathryn?

Dr. Kathryn Krase, PhD, JD, MSW has over two decades of experience with non-profit organizations at the local, national, and international levels. Over 20 years of management experience and service on the board of directors of multiple non-profit organizations informs Kathryn's ability to lead strategic planning initiatives, evaluate policies and procedures, and provide general problem-solving support. Kathryn is a Fulbright Specialist, having completed an organizational assessment and planning project with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Social Development, Amman, Jordan in 2019.

Dr. Kathryn Krase is a prolific writer, having authored multiple books and dozens of articles in peer-reviewed journals, magazines, and newspapers. She has also made hundreds of presentations to community groups, professional conferences, and to community-based organizations. She trains thousands of professionals each year on their legal and ethical obligations.

Over the course of 15 years, Dr. Kathryn Krase served on the full-time faculty of Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work, LIU Brooklyn’s Department of Social Work, and Ramapo College of New Jersey. Prior to her tenure in academia, she served as a law guardian and guardian-ad-litem representing children in New York City Family Court for the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Dr. Krase also served as the Associate Director of Fordham University's Interdisciplinary Center for Family and Child Advocacy and the Clinical Social Work Supervisor for the Family Defense Clinic at New York University Law School.

Dr. Kathryn Krase is a committed activist for social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. As a White woman living her entire life in Brooklyn, New York, and educated in New York City public schools, Kathryn recognizes how institutional and systemic racism provides her with privileges based on her racial identity and social class. As a result, she chose a career that provides her with the opportunity to use her knowledge and skills to create change aimed at identifying and dismantling injustice.
